AIM – This project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in rural areas in Northern Ireland by helping them to access local services, grants or benefits.
HOW – Trained enablers will visit you at your home or a venue of your choice to complete a confidential questionnaire which is then linked to the relevant services – these bodies will in turn contact you IF you are eligible for assistance.

HeartStart Lisburn & Mid Down was formed by a group of local people who have all been trained by the British Heart Foundation resuscitation officer.
They are looking for community groups / family and friends / church groups who want training. Groups can be from 6 to 36 people. More details here. |
Year 9 students from Saintfield High School have been taking part in the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative.
Pupils selected a local charity that best addressed their chosen issue. They interviewed staff and beneficiaries before preparing a presentation for a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style judging panel, with the best team winning a £3,000 donation for their charity. More details here. |

The Annual General Meeting of Saintfield Development Association marked the end of an era. Gerry Lowe stood down as Chair of the organisation after many years devoted service. Members of SDA organised a surprise party for Gerry, and photos of the evening can be viewed here. |
Saintfield Development Association recently held its Annual General Meeting in Saintfield Sports Club. Office bearers were elected and the guest speakers were from Broughshane & District Community Association Limited.

On a very wet Thursday 9th May the Minister of the Environment Alex Attwood visited Saintfield at the invitation of Simon Hamilton MLA.
The Minister met with representatives of Saintfield Development Association (SDA) and Saintfield Heritage Society (SHS). Strangford MP Jim Shannon and Rowallane councillors Terry Andrews, William Dick and William Walker were also in Saintfield for the meeting. On Saturday 27th April Saintfield Development Association, supported by Tidy Northern Ireland and Down District Council, had a successful Litter Pick in Saintfield.
