“Liberty or Death” in Saintfield High School

The cast of "Liberty or Death" in Saintfield High School

On Monday 24th March the Liberty Players performed their play about the United Irishmen, “Liberty or Death”, to an audience of parents and invited guests in Saintfield high School.  The Liberty Players are Year 12 pupils from the performing arts class. The performance formed part of the pupils’ preparation for their GCSE examination the following day.

VivoXtra Charity Fundraising Event

VivoXtra charity fundraising event

On Saturday 22nd March VivoXtra held a charity fundraising event, with male members of staff having their legs and chests waxed. The participants at the Saintfield and Ballynahinch stores raised over £2000 for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.

Soup Lunches in Parish Church Hall

Saintfield Parish Church will be holding its annual Lenten Soup Lunches on Wednesdays from 12.30pm to 2.00pm during March and April.The dates for your diary are:

“Saintfield Rural Development Association” Events

James Morrow of Saintfield Rural Development Association has asked us to advertise two forthcoming events that they are organising.

The first is a TABLE QUIZ in Saintfield Orange Hall at 8:00pm on Tuesday 18th February.  Teams can have up to four members, and there is a nominal entrance fee for each team.

The second event is a SAINT PATRICK’S NIGHT MUSICAL EVENING, again in Saintfield Orange Hall, on Friday 14th March at 8:00pm.  The Kilmood Fiddlers will provide the music, and there will be Irish Stew and Apple Tart.

(To avoid confusion this organisation has no connection with Saintfield Development Association.)

Funding is in place to upgrade Saintfield Square and the architects presented their initial proposals at a recent meeting attended by Down District Council and Saintfield Development Association.
