1798 Saintfield Connection Discovered During Comber Walk!

Comber Historical Society welcomed the members of Saintfield Heritage Society as they arrived in The Square.  The walk around Comber began in St. Mary’s Parish Church just off the far corner of The Square.

There was a surprise for the Saintfield group when they entered the church – a 1798 Saintfield connection!  One of the memorials high up on a wall was to three members of the York Fencibles who fell at the Battle of Saintfield on 9th June 1798.
