You’ve all seen them from a distance in a Church, Royal Wedding or Concert Hall.
The mighty organ is often a no-go place for most musicians, even pianists. However, they are not that scary once you sit on the organ bench. All the keys are the same as a piano but you can choose the type of sound it is going to make. You can even make tunes with your feet!
This event is for EVERYONE – every age and every level of musical knowledge whether an expert organist or pianist or you haven’t ‘got a note in your head’. Allow the builder of this fine new Phoenix Organ in 2nd Saintfield Presbyterian Church, Stephen Hamill, to show you how it all works and let you have a go producing a small whisper of a sound or a mighty roar!
If you just want to come and hear it and don’t feel like unleashing your musical talent on an unsuspecting listener, please feel free to pop in to listen to The King Of Instruments.
Stephen Hamill has taken an active part in musical life in Northern Ireland for over 30 years both as a soloist and an accompanist to several of Northern Ireland’s leading choirs. He has played with the Ulster Orchestra and has broadcast regularly on television and radio. Stephen has also given solo recitals in St Paul’s Cathedral in London and St Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. Stephen, a specialist in the Phoenix Organ system, installed the 35 rank organ himself in 2nd Saintfield Presbyterian Church and is looking forward to using his musical talents to show the instrument off to its full potential.
Entry is FREE and open to EVERYONE
