Now that Francis Hutcheson’s place of burial has been identified and marked with a plaque, the search for his place of birth is more important than ever.
There is a copy of an indenture in the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland, dated 25 May 1671, that records the sale of “the Town and Land of Drumaligg” from Henry, Earl of Clanbrassil to Alexander Hutcheson, Francis’ grandfather. But there is no map to show where Alexander’s house was.

Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)
John Brannigan, a Saintfield resident and erstwhile member of the old Town Committee, has been awarded the MBE for services to policing and to the community.
British Empire Medal (BEM)
Lindsay Hanna, Chairman of Laurelbank Carriage Driving for Disabled Group, has been awarded the BEM for his work with the Riding for the Disabled Association.
As part of the Saintfield Christmas Fair (organised by Saintfield Development Association) Rowallane Credit Union ran a very successful “Small Art” Competition for those aged under 16.
