Saintfield Development Association recently held a very successful Pub Quiz in The White Horse.
The SDA Pub Quiz Winners were “The Blow Ins” and the four team members are pictured here with their £60 cash prize. The team that finished a close second was the wonderful “Car Talk”! SDA would like to take this opportunity to thank Martin Phillips Carpets for their very generous ballot prize donation. |
Like most towns in the United Kingdom, Saintfield has its fair share of litter louts. Rubbish strewn along the hedgerows and verges of the roads into our village gives a poor impression to the visitor, not to mention the detritus dropped by careless folk on the pavements and gutters in the village itself.
Saintfield Anti-Litter Campaign needs you!
Saintfield will join a country wide anti – litter campaign launched by Tidy Northern Ireland, and to this end the Saintfield Development Association will stage a Spring Clean event on Saturday 27th April from 10am to 2pm. Down District Council will be supporting the event. If you would like to join in and can spare a couple of hours on that day, your participation would be most welcome. We will meet at The Square at 10am and Tidy NI will provide thick gloves, long handle rubbish pickers and plastic bags to collect the rubbish – one bag for recyclables and the other for general waste. Youngsters who wish to take part must have their parents’ permission. |
You can help to make a difference, so enter Saturday 27th April in your diary now.

Are you a musician, singer, composer or do you just have an interest in music generally? “Musicians of Saintfield” is a recently formed group of people interested in all genres of music and their aim is to bring together musicians in the community in and around Saintfield for their mutual enjoyment and benefit, developing the cultural awareness and involvement of all Saintfield residents.
The first meeting of the core group of enthusiasts has already met to discuss possible events that could be staged in the Saintfield area, such as street performances, concerts, pub sing-along’s, jam sessions, choral performances, busking, music in schools and worship music.
There must be a wide range of musical talent in our area which has yet to be discovered, so don’t be afraid of blowing your own trumpet!

A young Saintfield resident, Alex Clark, wants to help us win the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund competition. He has sent in this colourful poster to encourage Saintfield residents and their friends to vote for Saintfield in the poll which closes on 31st March.
Alex is backing Saintfield. Are you? Please vote here. A larger version of the poster can be viewed here. |
Vote for Saintfield in this Hot Galaxy Warm Heart poll!
The community groups that can generate the most votes and top the poll are given money to spend on local projects. Our Main Street is struggling to survive. We want to cheer the place up with our “Flowers for Saintfield” project. In the past we have been successful in “Best Kept Village” competitions and we hope to regenerate community spirit and make visitors welcome. We would spend this grant on floral displays in the Main Street. Most traders will help and Down District Council gives £500 but winning this money would make a big contribution – maximum impact for minimum expense! Vote early, and please ask your friends and colleagues to vote too! (Click on VOTE under SHOW YOUR SUPPORT) |
