Saintfield has picked up TWO awards in this year’s Translink “Ulster in Bloom” competition. Saintfield came joint third in the “Large Village Award“, and also won the special “Most Improved Award“.
Saintfield Development Association’s Green Saintfield Committee is greatly indebted to the many businesses, organisations and individuals who made donations to enable the purchase of planters and flowers to make Saintfield a more beautiful place in which to live. However this is not about SDA, this is an award for Saintfield as a community. It is for every person who has picked up a piece of rubbish and placed it in the nearest bin, for those businesses that have painted their shop fronts, and for the traders who helped water the plants. This competition is about the community working together, and it has engendered a great community spirit. Thank you Saintfield! |
The Chair of the Saintfield Development Association’s Communications Committee, Brenda Maitland, was elected to the Board of Directors of the County Down Rural Community Network at its recent AGM.
The CDRCN was formed in 1995 and has expanded to cover most of rural Co Down. It is the umbrella body for over 100 rural community organisations such as town and village committees, youth and senior organisations and other voluntary bodies. Following her election Brenda said that she was looking forward to taking up her new position on the board of the CDRCN and representing Saintfield. |
