Saintfield Wins 3rd Prize In “Ulster In Bloom”

At a ceremony today (Wednesday 17th September) in Londonderry’s Guildhall it was announced that Saintfield had won 3rd Prize in the Large Village category of this year’s Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition.

Barbara Graham, Chair of Saintfield Development Association, would like to thank everyone who helped Saintfield win this prize by displaying flowers at their business and residential properties.  Beautiful plant and floral presentations create a lasting, positive and welcoming image of Saintfield, encouraging people to make return visits with friends and family.

Saintfield Development Association’s small but dedicated Green Saintfield Committee helped to organise Saintfield’s floral displays and to keep the village tidy by regularly clearing dirt and litter from the streets.  Details of this work can be found HERE.

Winner Of Paddy Jackson Rugby Shirt

Local man Paddy Jackson switched on the Christmas tree lights at last year’s Christmas Fair.  Organisers Saintfield Development Association took the opportunity to get Paddy to sign an Ulster Rugby shirt to be used in a ballot to raise funds for events in Saintfield.  The lucky winner of the framed shirt was John Crilly, pictured below.
