Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Saintfield Development Association will be held on Monday 12th June 2017 at 7.30pm at The Hub, 35 Main Street. All residents are urged to attend. The Agenda is available to download HERE.
The guest speaker will be Mark Conway. Mark works in business/management consultancy with the Venturei Network. He holds degrees in Geography, Town and Country Planning, Policy Analysis and Business Strategy. He is also a Full Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Within Venture Mark focuses on strategic and business planning across the public, private and voluntary/community sectors throughout the island of Ireland, working for clients in central and local government, community and economic development, education, EU programmes, health, housing, planning, social inclusion, sport/leisure, regeneration and tourism. Before Venture he worked in health and social care, University lecturing, housing and town and country planning.
Outside work he is/has been involved in a voluntary capacity with the GAA, the BBC, community development, heritage, rural development, social housing and third world support: of these the GAA is by far the most important! He is married to Mary and they have three (now grown-up) children. Home (and heartland) is rural Kildress, County Tyrone.
Saintfield Development Association’s fourth annual Saintfield Cycle event took place today. On a lovely sunny morning 157 cyclists gathered in Downpatrick Street car park for the start of the 33-mile circuit along the picturesque back-roads of County Down. Refreshments were available along the way in Downpatrick, and at the end of the route in the Rowallane Inn.

Litter pickers with some of the many bags of litter and general dirt they collected this morning on the streets of Saintfield. The litter pickers met at 2nd Saintfield Presbyterian Church before dispersing to various parts of the village. Saintfield Development Association would like to thank 2nd Saintfield for the use of the church hall and for the refreshments they provided.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council invite individuals, community and business representatives to a consultation event that will be held to inform the update of the Saintfield Village Plan.

This event will seek to collect your views on the key issues, priorities and opportunities for driving forward the future development of Saintfield.
Joe Mahon was out and about in the village last week filming for a “Lesser Spotted Journeys” programme on Saintfield. Joe and the production team are seen here in Rowallane Community Hub. The programme will be shown on UTV later in the year.
The 33-mile route round beautiful County Down countryside starts and ends in Saintfield.
Registration is from 8:45 am in Downpatrick Street car park,
with the ride commencing at 9:30 am.

There will be a HEALTHY MIND AND BODY public event in the Market House, Ballynahinch on Tuesday 25th April 2017 from 7.00 – 9.00 pm.
A diverse range of agencies will be in attendance to provide useful information and advice on both physical and mental health focusing strongly on coping with stress. Free Taster sessions in a variety of activities to help with relaxation will be available on the night. A healthy eating demonstration, workshop on spring flower arranging and free children’s entertainment including face painting will be available. A demonstration of the Council’s Play Pod equipment, available to community groups for fun days, fund raisers etc, will be provided.
The event will also provide the opportunity to chat to local representatives about your concerns and priorities in Community Planning and perhaps shape the format of a future meeting.
