Joan Cunningham has again organised the Saintfield Christmas Charity Santa Ride in aid of underprivileged children in Uganda and Rwanda.
The ride will form at Saintfield Livestock Mart at 11:30am on Saturday 1st December for mulled wine and mince pies. The ride will leave the Mart at 12:30pm and head up Saintfield’s Main Street at 1:00pm. Santa will meet the children at the Christmas tree. Notice is hereby given that Saintfield Town Regeneration Committee (STRC) will be holding an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Tuesday 20th November 2012. The EGM will be held in the Saintfield Cricket Club Pavilion, and will commence at 7:30pm.

Groups of members from Saintfield Town Regeneration Committee have adopted the five gateway planters on the roads entering Saintfield. The planters are located on Station Road, Belfast Road, Crossgar Road, Lisburn Road and Ballynahinch Road. Each group has either grown its own flowers or bought flowers to plant in the troughs at the bottom of its gateway sign.

Saturday and Sunday saw the annual Ghost and Gourds Weekend at Rowallane. It was a scary Hallowe’en day out for all the family, with over two thousand people of all ages visiting Rowallane on the Saturday alone! Members of Saintfield Town Regeneration Committee (STRC) and their friends, in cooperation with Tidy Northern Ireland, organised a Litter Pick in Saintfield on Sunday morning (7th October). All areas of Saintfield within the 30MPH speed zone were tackled.
Tidy NI provided thick gloves, long-handled pickers and plastic bags in which to collect the litter. Twelve yellow bags of general waste were collected, together with 5 blue bags of waste suitable for recycling. The Downpatrick Street car park was also cleared of litter and overhanging shrubs cut back. Down District Council will collect the waste for disposal. More details and photos can be found here. |

The digital TV switchover is the process of turning off the UK’s analogue TV signal and replacing it with a digital signal.
