My Great Great Great Grandfather was John Moles, who was baptised in 1789 at Magheralin, County Down. John married and had 5 children, Robert Martin Moles,William Moles, Anne Jane Moles who married James G Ross, these children went to America, James Blackwood Moles, went to New Zealand and Jane Moles who married John Hutton, I believe stayed in Ireland. I am looking for help in finding records for this family in County Down. Also trying to trace any other Moles families who are related.
There is a Dr Moles who practices in Killinchy , Co Down as a General Practitioner. Another doctor, Ken Moles was a physician in Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry.
I hope that this can help you find out some more information.
Kind regards from Saintfield, Co Down
Hi, Recently started to trace my family history and I have found reference to my Great Great Grandfather, John Hutton who married to a Jane Moles in 1856 at Inch, Downpatrick. She was aged around 17, date of birth around 1839. These dates match. John and Jane Hutton moved to Port Logan in South West Scotland around the mid 1860’s, still trying to get the exact date. They brought with them three children born in Ireland, one James Hutton was my Great Grandfather. More children were born in Scotland. Would love to find out more. If this is the correct Jane Moles we would both have John Moles as Great Great Great Grandfather! Do you have any more information on John Moles’ background? I’m trying to trace as far back as I can! Anything I can help you with this end, if indeed this is the correct Jane and John, I’m more than happy to do so. Cheers, Eleanor Moodie
Hi Eleanor, your Jane Moles who married John Hutton is my 2 x great Aunt. I recently traced her to Port Logan and have started trying to trace her family. I am in touch with your cousin Ronnie Brown and am planning a trip to Stranraer and Port Logan next month. I would love to make contact with you.
