SDA member Anne Walker presenting Noel Gibson of R. Savage & Co. with their certificate.

Small Premises:-
First: Masseys of Saintfield
Runner-up: Town and Country Antiques

Judges Nicky McGarry (of Flowerish Design) and Michael Quinn (of Cumran Landscapes) presenting Masseys of Saintfield with their certificate.

Nicky and Michael were very impressed with the overall standard and it should be noted that the SDA’s own floral displays were not taken into account when judging took place. Our sincere thanks go to Nicky and Michael for taking the time out of their very busy lives to come to Saintfield and to Anne McCandless of Norr & Brown for providing afternoon tea.

The Green Committee of the SDA are most grateful to everyone in Saintfield who helped by giving donations, having their own floral displays, either on their premises or homes, watering, dead heading and all the numerous tasks involved. A special thank you goes to the First Presbyterian Church, not only for their generous donation but for allowing the use of their railings to show off our floral displays. Thanks also to those who told us that we were doing a good job as they were passing by. It makes it all worthwhile.

John Bates Born Saintfield 1799

Hello – I live in Canada. I am researching John Bates who was born in St. Field in 1799. I am attempting to find information concerning his mother and father to continue on with my family history. John Bates married Elisabeth McFarlane from Tyrone, Northern Ireland before they arrived in Canada. Do you have, or have any local history that may help me in my search. Thanks.

Corporate Sponsor – CES Quarry Products

Pedal The Peninsula - 20th September 2015

CES Quarry Products, who operate from a site just outside Saintfield on the Crossgar road, recently became a corporate sponsor of the SDA. The family owned business has committed to contributing a significant amount to the SDA each month as a show of support for the activities and events the association does for the benefit of Saintfield residents. You can visit their website HERE.

The SDA is a registered charity organisation and relies heavily on donations, grants and fund raising events to finance the wide range of activities with which it is involved. The Association is run by a team of volunteers, who give of their time unstintingly and whose only reward is the satisfaction of contributing to the betterment of their village and environment.

If you or your company would like to support the work done by the SDA for your community, we would welcome any contribution you could make, whether as a corporate sponsor, a one – off donation or as a volunteer giving your time to help on any of our working committees which appeal to your interests.

Please express your willingness to donate or to volunteer your time and expertise by contacting the editor of our Saintfield News publication:
