Haze is a classic rock band from Belfast. Originally formed in 1979, they split in 1982 and re-formed 28 years later. They play covers from classics bands such as AC/DC, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and many more as well as performing their own original songs.
Members: Geordie Beckett – lead vocals and guitar, Norm Gordon – lead guitar and backing vocals, Russ Li- Nesbitt – bass and backing vocals, Stevie Hughes – drums.
Norm, Russ and Stevie were the original Haze back in 1979. They went their separate ways in 1982 but twenty-eight years later… They’re back!
Geordie – I started off in ‘Honey Weed’, on to a pop band called ‘Bizz’ as well as ‘Rockaholics’ and other cover bands. Right now I’m gigging in a rock n’ blues two piece and the mighty Haze!
Stormin Norman – In 1984, I joined ‘Elixir’; and since then we’ve released singles, EPs and six albums. I recorded a hard rock album with Paul Taylor from ‘Elixir’ called ‘Beggars, Thieves and Madmen’. A little jaunt around Europe and USA (still ongoing) then I came back to the Emerald Isle, linked up with fellow Hazeites and formed a classic rock band. After much deliberation it was decided just to call the band Haze again. It seemed to make perfect sense, it’s still a great name!
Russ – I was the bassist with ‘Rattling Throntons’,’ Ashanti’, ‘7th Dawn’ (ex Sweet Savage), ‘Marleise’ and ‘The Jim Armstrong Band’. I’ve recorded with most of these bands and in the late 80’s I recorded with various dub reggae bands. I’m currently with ‘Talk, Monkey’, Louisiana Joyride and Haze.
Stevie – I was 17 when we formed Haze in the 80’s for a few years. When the band split up I joined ‘Firefly,’ a rock cover band and stayed with them for about a year. I was asked to join ‘Sweet Savage’ who had just finished a world tour with ‘Thin Lizzy’. Shortly after we were asked to do a few gigs with Ozzy Osbourne which was brilliant. After 5-6 years we took a break and formed the band ‘Riff Raff’ for a few years. I joined ‘Elixir’ for a year and in ’89 came home. Then after 30 years I had the chance to reform Haze which I never thought I would.
